Ritual Herbs Mild Silver fine cut 25g
This blend also comes as Mild – same size, different character.
Character
Mild Silver is the more characterful of the two Ritual Herbs blends. The same seven herbs as in Mild, but a different blend ratio and a different cut shift the taste and the burn noticeably. The result stays calm, yet comes across as less restrained than Mild, and suits anyone who finds the gentler blend a shade too quiet. The 25 g pouch is the larger pack size and is meant for anyone who already knows Mild Silver and reaches for it regularly.
If you already know Mild and are looking for more flavour of its own, Mild Silver is the logical companion. The difference does not show up in the ingredient list but in the composition and the cut, and that is exactly what makes the two blends a pair rather than two independent products.
The seven herbs
Mild Silver is made from the same seven plant components as Mild, fully declared:
- Mullein leaves
- Blackberry leaves
- Lotus flower petals
- Hollyhock leaves
- Turmeric leaves
- Liquorice root
- Liquorice leaves
Full portraits of every plant are on the Ingredients page.
Where the herbs come from
As with Mild, the herbs for Mild Silver come mainly from Europe. In addition we source selected, wild-picked herbs from India that have grown without artificial fertiliser and without chemical treatment. The final processing takes place in Germany, where the raw materials are worked into the structure that gives Mild Silver its somewhat more pronounced character. Over several years we developed our own process techniques to balance cut and blend ratio so that this blend burns calmly despite having more flavour of its own.
Processing and burn
The cut of Mild Silver is matched to its slightly stronger profile. Where Mild should carry as little flavour of its own as possible, Mild Silver is allowed to let a bit more come through without the blend burning unevenly. Coarsely cut material would throw the ember off balance; cut too finely it burns too fast and turns scratchy. Between the two lies the band in which Mild Silver works: loose enough for an even draw, firm enough to hold together when rolling.
Residual moisture plays a large part here too, and here too the 25 g pouch is resealable. With a pack used over weeks, sealing it cleanly decides whether the last portion still tastes like the first.
Use
If you reach for Mild Silver regularly, the 25 g pouch usually serves you better than the small pack, for price reasons alone: per gram it is around 45 per cent cheaper. A rolling machine or a stuffing device distributes the material more evenly, which matters even more with a slightly more pronounced cut than it does with Mild.
For mixing with hemp, Mild Silver brings a note of its own that you either like or you do not, whereas Mild holds back in flavour. Smoked neat, the difference from Mild is clearest: a little more character, without the blend becoming restless or unpleasant.
Thin cigarette paper is particularly worthwhile with Mild Silver, because thick paper comes through more strongly with any herbal blend than with tobacco and can drown out the slightly more pronounced character of this one. A filter, or at least a rolled strip of card, makes sense too: it holds back fine material and stabilises the end of the cigarette.
Storage
The same rules as for Mild: cool, dry, no direct sunlight, no fridge. With a 25 g pack that stays in use for longer, careless sealing shows up sooner, because changes in residual moisture are more noticeable across a larger quantity of material. If the blend does become too dry, a glass of water next to the closed pouch for a few hours is usually enough. Water directly on the herbs is out of the question. With a supply pack like the 25 g pouch it is also worth finding a fixed spot away from window sills and radiators, where the temperature swings most.
